Visitation: Friends may call from 11 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday, April 07, 2004 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 1 P.M., Wednesday, April 07, 2004 at the funeral home.

Interment: at the body will be cremated following the service.

Those left to honor Mike's memory are his wife, Alena of Newton; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Marie Van Benthuysen of Ankeny, Iowa; his 1 granddaughter, Ali Van Benthuysen; parents, Robert and Marie Van Benthuysen of Bussey, Iowa; his sister, Deborah Petersen of Bussey; and sister and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Rod Goemaat of Hamilton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Annie Van Benthuysen and Gary and Margaret Heaton.

Michael was a graduate of Twin Cedars High School.

He was a factory worker for Maytag Company for 27 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the UAW Local 997 Retirees and the Isaac Walton League.

Memorials to the University of Iowa Athletic Department may be left at the funeral home.
