Mrs. William Pitcock died last Friday, at her home in Poweshiek township, after a painful illness, at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 13 days, leaving a husband and seven children to mourn her loss. Her funeral was from the Greencastle church last Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Williams, of Greencastle, and the interment was in the McKeever cemetery.
Matilda Tedrow was a native of Perry county, Ohio, and there she was united in marriage to William Pitcock August 22, 1862. Of the eight children born to this union seven – Mrs. Ed. Hanson, of Mingo; Mrs. Josh Ware, of Colfax; Mrs. A. O. Wilson, of Rhodes; and Harley, Harry, Willie and Eddie – are living, only their son Adolphus, having passed away before his mother. Mrs. Pitcock joined the Methodist church in her girlhood, and was a true Christian wife and mother to the end. May she rest in peace.
The husband and children request us to express to neighbors and friends their sincere thanks for unnumbered kindnesses and acts of sympathy during the great bereavement and sorrow through which they have passed.
