Marie A. Maher Died July 8th At Prairie City
Mrs. Dan Joseph (Marie Agnes) Maher, 77, a resident of Mingo since 1924, died Sunday, July 8th at Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Colfax. Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Dan H. of Colfax and Donald of Mingo; three daughters, Mrs. Ted (Katherine) Pellett of Atlantic, Mrs. Gerald (Alicia Marie Alice) Jennings of Ames and Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Pohney of Redondo Beach, Calif., 30 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Kiernan of Des Moines and Mrs. James Mulvihill of Cummings, and a brother, Jack Watts of Martensdale.
Mrs. Maher was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, and the Senior Women’s Club and American Legion Auxiliary, both of Mingo.
The daughter of John and Katherine McCaulley Watts, she was born May 20, 1896 in Berwick.
She was married Dec. 1, 1924 in Des Moines.
Conducting the services were: Rev. Gerard Kulleck, Rev. James Kiernan, Rev. Raphael Maher and Rev. Larry A. Watts.
Soloist, Edward J. Gannon, Jr.
Organist, Miss Mary Clarke.
Bearers – Pat Jennings, Shawn Jennings, Brendan Maher, Joe Maher, John Maher and Mark Pellet.
Flowers – Mrs. John Maher and Mrs. Pat Ross.
