Loyd E. Maggard Died January 8 At Des Moines
Loyd E. Maggard, 80, of Rt. 1 Colfax, a longtime resident of this area, died early Monday morning, Jan. 8th at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in De Moines.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Colfax Christian Church.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the church conducted the services. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Walters Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Verna, two sons, Roscoe of Colfax and Robert of Mingo; two daughters, Mrs. Willis (Virginia) Day of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Wayne (Darlene) Pierce of Torrance, California; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Hughes of Pasadena, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
The son of Charles and Ella Mowry Maggard, he was born July 4, 1892 in Baxter.
He was married to Verna Irene Meckley July 4, 1910.
He was a member of the Christian Church.
Edward J. anon, Jr., soloist, provided the music, accompanied by Mrs. Ramon Faidley on the organ. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ralph Hattery, Mrs. Robert Luther, and Mrs. Otis Huntrod.
Casket bearers were Robert Luther, Bud Pierce, Earl Meisel, Dale Wiley, Otis Huntrod and Denver Barker.
