Bayles, Alice E.
Alice Bayles, 90, of 5245 Liberty Ave. died of heart failure Saturday, July 25 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1: 30 p.m. at the Wallace-Pence funeral home in Newton. Burial will be at West Field Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.

Memorials in Mrs. Bayles’s name will be excepted.

The daughter of John and Bertha Jane Shaw Smool. She was born March 26. 1909 in Danvers, Illinois. She married Jesse James Bayles in March 1930 in Ill.

A longtime resident of Powesheik and Jasper Counties Mrs. Bayles worked and as a health care worker at area nursing homes. She enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include four sons, Loren, Delbert and Glen, all of Newton and Harvey of Albuquerque; two daughters, Bertha Chamra and Lila Bayles both of Newton; 11 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, three grandchildren, five brothers, and two sisters.
