Death again visited our little town and plucked another pretty bud from the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Roersma after a week of terrible suffering with inflammation of the stomach. She passed to eternal rest Dec. 20th 1894. Hattie Marie aged 2 years and 12 days. The funeral took place from the U. P. church Friday afternoon, Rev. Wilson Mills of the Baptist church conducting the obsequies. The church was filled with friends and neighbors. The little white casket that contained the jewel of love was covered with beautiful floral offerings of friends; on the bible stand was a scarf of white velvet with the words "Sweet Marie."
