Grinnell--Funeral services for James A. Messengale, 38, of Grinnell will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Calvery Baptist Church in Grinnell.

Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr. Messengale died Tuesday of cancer at Grinnell General Hospital.

Survivors include his mother, Flonnie Messengale of Grinnell; three sisters, Ann Salyers of Newton, Alta McNeal of Grinnell and Alma Bennett of Tampa, Fla. and seven brothers, Ray of Redondo, Fla, Carl of Otterville, Mo., Floyd of Barnhart, Mo., Jerry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Larry of Montezumia and David of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Menifee Messengale, and one brother, Kenneth.

Me. Messengale attended school at Searsboro and graduated from the Lynnville-Sully High School. he attended Des Moines Area Community College and worked from 1975 to 1988 in Grinnell as an insurance adjuster.

The son of Menifee and Flonnie Dick Messengale, he was born Dec. 9, 1950.
