Clifford Sullivan Dies Monday; Rites Are Set Wednesday
Clifford L. Sullivan, 64, of 907 N. 3rd Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1928, died Monday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Carl F. Klein, pastor of the Pleasantview United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Newton Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 1655 at the cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.
Survivors are a brother, John of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Florence) Northcott, Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Couch and Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Davis, all of Newton, and nine nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of World War II in which he served in the field artillery in the European Theater and was in the Rhineland and central European campaigns.
He owned and operated a saw sharpening and lawn mower repair business.
The son of Asa and Mary Magdaline Remmark Sullivan, he was born Nov. 13, 1911 at Oskaloosa.
