Edith Schumann Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday
Mrs. Lee H. (Edith E.) Schumann, 68, of 313 S. 4th Ave. W., a lifelong resident of the Newton and Barrett communities, died Thursday evening at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Graveside rites will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at Our Silent city Cemetery in Kellogg.
The Rev. Richard Welch, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, north of Newton, will conduct services.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel after 5 o’clock this evening until noon Saturday.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Frances Robertson of Newton; two grandsons, James Robertson and Kevin Robertson; three brothers, Delbert Stover of Monroe, Jack Stover of Newton and Harry Stover of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Virgil Miller of Kellogg; three cousins and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Schumann was a member of the Christian Church and a longtime member of the Barrett Homemakers Club.
Mrs. Schumann was employed for a number of years at the Skiff Memorial Hospital as a licensed practical nurse.
The daughter of Arthur and Ellen Lee Stover, she was born Aug. 22, 1908 in Newton and was graduated in 1928 from Newton Community High School.
She was married in April 1937 in Missouri.
