Newtwon Man’s Mother Dies; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Clarence S. (Clara V.) Johnson, 90, mother of Robert S. Johnson, of Newton, died today at the Good Samaritan home in Ottumwa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Munterville Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions to the Munterville Lutheran church will be accepted.
Johnson Funeral Home in Ottumwa is handling arrangements.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Scheuermann of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Kenneth (Viola) Chidester of Des Moines and Mrs. Myron (Lela) Swedberg of Duluth, Minn.; another son, Orval Johnson of Ottumwa; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in May 1961; an infant son; four brothers; three sisters; and three grandchildren.
The daughter of John and Hannah Carlson Peterson, she was born Nov. 6, 1885 in Munterville, Iowa.
She was married Aug. 20, 1905 at the farm home of her parents.
