Andrew Dykhuis, Ex-Sully Area Resident, Dies
Sully – Andrew Dykhuis, 75, of 805 Columbus St., Pella, a former resident of the Sully community, died Wednesday morning at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the First Reformed Church in Pella.
The Rev. Frank Shearer and the Rev. Richard DeJong, pastors of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Cora; two sons, Galen and Arnold, both of rural Pella; two daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Mildred) Klein of Leighton and Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Van Rees of Pella; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.
Mr. Dykhuis had farmed for 31 years and was an employe of the Pella Park Commission for 17 years.
The son of John and Grietge Visscher Dykhuis, he was born July 23, 1901 near Pella.
He was married to Gora Steenhoek Feb. 8, 1923 in Pella.
