Willard De Jong Services to Be Held Saturday
Sully – Funeral services for Willard Glen De Jong, 50, of 307 3rd Ave., Sully, owner and operator of the Grinnell Transport, Inc., in Sully, will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church near Galesburg.
The Rev. Ernest Elzey, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center at Pella will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Henrietta; two sons, Bryce Eldon De Jong and Barry Eugene De Jong, both at home; his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Irish of Pella; two sisters, Mrs. Bernie (Leona) Menninga of Reasnor and Mrs. Dan (Erma) Tuinstra of Spencer; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Dale (Ardelle) Kautz of Newton and Mrs. Ed (Jean) Masters of Reasnor.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1947.
Mr. De Jong was a member of the St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and the Sully volunteer Fire Department.
He was in the trucking business for many years including a milk route, becoming owner of the Grinnell Transport, Inc. in 1968.
The son of Bert and Nellie Paltzer De Jong, he was born July 16, 1926 in Marion.
He was married to Henrietta Neilsen Dec. 20, 1946 near Galesburg.
He died Thursday at his home.
