Mabel Morris Services Set For Saturday
Kellogg – Funeral services for Mrs. Jesse (Mabel Adeline) Morris, 77, of rural Kellogg, a resident of the Kellogg community since 1950 and a resident of Newton from 1948 until 1950, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kellogg United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Carl Klein, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel in Newton until 9 p.m. today.
Survivors are a son, Maurice Preston of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Blair of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. John (Bonnie) Toole of San Jose, Calif.; two stepsons, Donald Morris of Boone and Robert Morris of Marshalltown; nine step-grandchildren; three grandchildren; a brother, Otis Anderson of Woodward; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brooks and Mrs. Edna Storm, both of Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, David Preston; her second husband, Jesse W. Morris; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Eastern Star, Jasper County Senior Citizens, Amboy Grange and Lucky Deuce Card Club.
Mrs. Morris had been a clerk at stores in Woodward, J. C. Penney Store in Newton and the Kellogg hardware.
The daughter of Nels and Mary Anderson, she was born Feb. 2, 1899 at Woodward and attended Woodward and Perry schools.
She was married to David Preston in 1916 and to Jesse Morris in 1950 in Burlington.
She died Tuesday evening at her farm home northwest of Kellogg.
