Service Pending For Oregon Man
Arthur B. De Joode, 80, of Prineville, Ore., died Monday at Bend, Ore.
Toland-Wallace Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangement which have not been completed.
Survivors are his wife, the former Mabel Koopman, a brother-in-law, William J. Koopman of Newton; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ray (Viola) Vriezelaar of Newton and Mrs. Lorna Parker of Oskaloosa.

Arthur De Joode Services Set For Saturday
Graveside rites for Arthur B. De Joode, 80, a former resident of Jasper County, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Veterans section of the Newton Union Cemetery.
The Rev. James Conger, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services.
Military services will be conducted by the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1655 and the American Legion Post No. 111.
Toland-Wallace Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. De Joode died recently at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore. His body will be accompanied to Newton by his wife, Mabel, who was released today from St. Charles Medical Center following hip replacement surgery.
Also surviving are a brother-in-law, William J. Koopman of Newton; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ray (Viola) Vriezelaar of Newton and Mrs. Lorna Parker of Oskaloosa; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dick and Albert.
Mr. De Joode, a member of the Masonic Lodge, was a veteran of World War I, during which he served with Co. H of the Rainbow Division.
He had been employed by the bridge department of the Oregon State Highway Department for many years.
The son of Albert and Cornelia Weyers De Joode, he was born July 12, 1896 near Monroe.
He was married to Mabel Koopman Mar. 20, 1920 in Des Moines.
