Gladyce Fales Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Monroe _ Mrs. Melvin (Gladyce Marie) Fales, 75, a longtime resident of Monroe, died Wednesday at the Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
The Rev. Jerry Wolcott, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Monroe Garden Chapel after 10 a.m. Friday.
Survivors are four sons, Doyle of Denver, Colo., Wayne of Anaheim, Calif., John of Monroe and Jerry of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. John (Myrtle) Munger of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1937, two daughters, Arlene and Darlene, in infancy and a sister, Lavina Wilcox of Newton.
The daughter of George and Margaret Awtry Valentine, she was born Feb. 1, 1901 in Dunreath.
