Minnie Osten Dies Sunday; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Charles W (Minnie C.) Osten, 76, of 415 S. 6th Ave. W., a resident of the Kellogg and Newton communities for 50 years, died Sunday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are three sons, Martin of Battle Creek, Mich., Fred of Lincoln, Neb., and Charles of Fairfax; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Nola) Stewart of Colfax and Mrs. Marie Melson and Mrs. Stella Cooksey, both of Newton; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Martin Gerdes of Rapid City, S.D.; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Lean) Kahler of River Falls, Wis., Mrs. Elsie Heifner of Rapid City, S.D., and Mrs. Freda Hansen of Chelsea, S.D.
Mrs. Osten was preceded in death by her husband in 1938, a grandson, and eight brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Osten was a former employe of the Jasper County Care Facility.
The daughter of Frederick and Minnie Gerdes, she was born July 4, 1899 at Vernon.
