Charles J. Ogden Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Charles J. Ogden, 93, of 535 Hartwig Way, a resident of Newton for 53 years, died Wednesday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors are two sons, Charles L. of Newton and Donald C. of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Barney (Margaret) Elscott of Newton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Brown of What Cheer, Miss Elizabeth Ogden of Des Moines and Mrs. Kathryn Lekwa of Story City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nellie, in July 1964; and three brothers.
Mr. Ogden, a member of the First Christian Church and the Maytag 25-Year Club, retired from the Maytag Co. in 1951 after 30 years of service.
The son of Wilson D. and Emma C. Young Ogden, he was born Mar. 20, 1883 at Hamlin.
He was married to Nellie Lorraine Fuller July 29, 1909 at What Cheer.
