Frank Little Dies Tuesday; Rites Friday
Frank M. Little, 79, of 616 E. 3rd St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, died Tuesday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. James Conger, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
Survivors are his wife, Elsie; two sons, Alvin A. and Melvin M., both of Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil C. of San Jacinto, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Torbet of Truro; a brother-in-law, Harry L. Vance of Newton; and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Azel (Katie) Oliver, Mrs. Arthur (Gladys) Nelson and Mrs. Gwen Tucker, all of Newton.
Mr. Little was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald, in 1955; and three sisters.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and president of the Lost Chord Club of Pierce County.
As president of the group, Mr. Little often consulted with persons about to undergo larynx surgery and also addressed groups of young people, pointing out the best methods of preventing larynx problems.
The son of John D. and Annie Capp Little, he was born Aug. 20, 1896 in Sterling, Ill.
He was married to Elsie I. Vance Jan. 16, 1924 in Newton.
Mr. Little was employed at the Maytag Co. and Parsons Co. in Newton until moving to Tacoma, Wash., in November 1949. He managed a large apartment house there for 18 years, moving back to Newton May 1, 1975.
