Erma Damman Dies Friday; Rites Tuesday
Laurel – Mrs. Will A. (Erma E.) Damman, 81, of Rt. 1, Laurel, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Friday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Gregory Caldwell, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery north of Newton.
Memorial contributions to the St. John’s Cemetery Association will be accepted.
Survivors are her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. August Damman of Laurel, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Damman, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Damman and Mrs. Fred (Mabel) Damman, all of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Grote of Marshalltown and Mrs. John (Nora) Glesener of Maquoketa; her step-mother-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Damman of Newton; nieces and nephews and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vande Kamp of Laurel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Will, July 11, 1970; a daughter, Grace White Damman; an infant son, William A.; and two brothers.
Mrs. Damman was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau, Mariposa Grange; Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Retired Teacher Association; and the Jasper County Historical Society.
Mrs. Damman was a former Jasper County rural school teacher.
The daughter of Phillip and Louise Klopping Wullschleger, she was born Feb. 27, 1895 in Leigh, Neb.
She was married Dec. 23, 1916 at St. Johns Church, north of Newton.
