James A. Dimon Dies Monday; Rites Thursday
James A. Dimon, 88, of Newton, a resident of Newton since 1908, died Monday evening at the Embassy Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Raymond Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel after noon Wednesday.
Memorial contributions to the First Christian Church in Newton will be accepted.
Survivors are two sons, Harry F. Dimon of Aurora, Ill., and Ivan M. Dimon of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Grace) Palmer of Newton and Mrs. William (Rosalie) Smith of Colfax; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Leroy; a grandson; a great-grandson; four brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Dimon was a member of the First Christian Church.
Mr. Dimon had been a foundry smelter in the Newton Foundry from 1937 to 1965 and in other Newton factories for more than 60 years.
The son of Jerome and Margaret Redding Dimon, he was born Aug. 14, 1887 at Phillipsburg, Kan., and was educated in Kansas schools.
He was married to Elizabeth Hummel May 11, 1909 in Newton.
