G. Branderhorst Dies Monday; Rites Thursday
Monroe – Gysbert C. Branderhorst, 70, of Rt. 1, Monroe, a longtime Monroe area farmer, died Monday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Pella.
The Rev. Gerald R. Erffmeyer, pastor of the Newton Christian Reformed Church, will conduct services.
Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Gertrude; a son, Ronald of Prairie City; three grandchildren; two brothers, William of Oskaloosa and Lambert of Oskaloosa; and six sisters, Mrs. William (Emma) Van Dort, Mrs. Hessel D. (Marie) Van Ryswyk, Mrs. Peter (Nellie) Van Ryswyk, Mrs. Peter R. (Bertha) Meyer and Mrs. John (Maggie) Schut, all of Pella, and Mrs. Elco (Cora) Ooostendorf of Fremont, Mich.
He was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.
The son of William M. and Maria Johanna Van Der Beek Branderhorst, he was born June 13, 1905 in The Netherlands, coming to the United States with his parents at the age of 3.
He was married to Gertrude Van Zee Feb. 25, 1931 in Prairie City.
