Bernice Billman Dies Friday; Rites Tuesday
Mrs. Fred O. (Bernice) Billman, 82, of 122 N. 6th Ave. E. died Friday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Ian R. Hoover, pastor of the Newton Christian Missionary Alliance Church, will conduct services.
Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Marrietta Cemetery, west of Marshalltown.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Cecil of Marshalltown and Leonard of Marshalltown; four daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Mildred) Turner of Newton, Mrs. Wayne (Doris) Eaton of Marshalltown, Mrs. Maurine Slycord of Newton and Mrs. Doyle (Marjorie) Mikles of Grinnell; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Genevieve) Goecke of Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Billman, who farmed with her husband in Jasper, Marshall, Black Hawk, Benton and Tama counties, had been employed in the linen department of the Grinnell Community Hospital for 12 years.
The daughter of Alva and Mary Shewalter Hall, she was born May 29, 1894 in Marrietta Township near Marshalltown and was educated in rural schools.
She was married to Fred Oliver Billman July 27, 1912 at Marshalltown.
