Ethel Berlau Dies Friday; Services Today
Funeral services for Mrs. John (Ethel F.) Berlau, 84, formerly of 526 N. 2nd Ave. E., a lifelong resident of the Newton area, were held today at the First Christian Church.
The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Berlau died Friday at the Jasper County Care Facility.
Toland-Wallace Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund or the Jasper County Care Facility will be accepted.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Don (Velma) Plouff of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Leland (Helen) Coon of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1974; and a brother, Dr. E. Roy Stover of Milwaukee, Wis.
Mrs. Berlau was a member of the First Christian Church and the Newton Woman’s Club.
The daughter of Charles and Dora Ballard Stover, she was born Jan. 16, 1892 near Newton.
She was married Oct. 6, 1915 at Newton.
