‘Dick’ Stravers Dies; Services Are Held Today
Prairie City – Funeral services for Dirk “Dick” Stravers, 83, a resident of Prairie City since 1924, were held today at the Christian Church in Prairie City.
The Rev. Phil Coe, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.
Mr. Stravers died Saturday at his home.
Survivors are his wife, Helen; a son, Donald of Prairie City; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Stravers of Prairie City and Marion Stravers of Mitchellville; and a sister, Mrs. Ada Clymer, of Newton.
Mr. Stravers, a retired farmer, was a member of the Christian Church at Prairie City.
The son of Johannas and Jeanette Van Peursem Stravers, he was born Oct. 25, 1892 at Otley.
He was married to Helen Bernice Warner Feb. 16, 1916 at Prairie City.
