Alice M. Jones Dies Saturday; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Arthur (Alice M.) Jones, 94, of 812 N. 2nd Ave. E., a longtime resident of Newton, died Saturday morning at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. William C. Hamilton, pastor of the First Assembly of God church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Survivors are a son, Rex Jones of Oxnard, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Frances Betty) Brokaw of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Willis (Juanita) Grant of Newton; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Ogg of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1936; daughter, Genevieve Clark; four sons, Walter, LeRoy, Howard and Edward; two sisters; and a brother.
Mrs. Jones, a member of the First Assembly of God Church, was the founder of the first rest home in Newton where she cared for ambulatory and bed patients.
The daughter of John and Sarah J. Holland Spohn, she was born Sept. 6, 1881 at Selma.
She was married to Arthur Jones May 23, 1900 in Colfax.
