Maxine Peterson Dies Sunday; Services Pending
Brenda Maxine Peterson, 63, of 500 N. 2nd Ave. E., staff nurse and supervisor at the Skiff Memorial Hospital from 1956 until her retirement in 1973, died Sunday morning enroute to the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Graveside rites tentatively are set for Tuesday.
Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s nursing scholarship fund will be accepted.
Miss Peterson was born Aug. 5, 1912 at Ames and was graduated from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines in 1936.
She was employed as a nurse at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from 1936 to 1947, was supervisor and staff nurse at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames from 1947 to 1951 and was director of nurses at the Story County Hospital in Nevada from 1951 to 1956, during which time she helped open the hospital.
Miss Peterson was a former member of the Newton Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church in Stratford.
