A. Burton Paul Dies Sunday; Rites Tuesday
A. Burton Paul, 77, of Suncrest Village, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Sunday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 10 a.m. today.
Survivors are seven sons, Wayne R. Paul of Logan, Utah; Norman Paul of Hood River, Ore.; Dale Paul of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dennis Paul of Brownwood, Tex., James Paul of Kellogg, Curtis Paul of Belmond and Keith Paul of Waterloo; four daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Thorson of Grinnell, Ms. Phyllis Paul of New York, N.Y., Mrs. Earnest (Helen) Hoffa of Grundy Center and Mrs. Bill (Carol) Skoog of Altoona; 23 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mae, in 1972, a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Paul was a retired Maytag Co. employe.
The son of Andrew B. and Martha Woodward Paul, he was born Mar. 16, 1899 near Newton, was graduated from Newton Community High School and attended Iowa State University in Ames.
He was married to Mae I. Anderson Jan. 2, 1922 at Kellogg.
