James Vos, 68, Dies Friday; Services Today
Sully – Funeral services for James Vos, 68, a resident of sully since 1965 and longtime Sully area farmer, were held today at the First Reformed Church in Sully.
The Rev. Wayne Tripp, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Sully Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center at Pella will be accepted.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella handled arrangements. He died Friday at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Wilma; four sons, Kenneth D. of Monroe, Ronald J. of Sully, Harris L. of Newton and Jerry of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin H. (Lois) Vos of Pella, Mrs. Gene (Linda) Vos of Pella and Mrs. Edward (Louise) Conover of Oraibi, Ariz.; a brother, Abe Vos of Lynnville; two sisters, Mrs. William E. (Clara) Jansen of Sully and Mrs. Sophia Van Roekel of Sully; and 20 grandchildren.
Mr. Voss was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sully.
The son of John A. and Jennie Dykstra Vos, he was born Feb. 25, 1908, north of Sully and was educated in Jasper County schools.
He was married to Wilma Jansen July 15, 1932 at Sully.
