Emma Vieth, 84, Dies Sunday; Rites Wednesday
Laurel – Mrs. John H. (Emma) Vieth, 84, who resided in Laurel Community until moving to the Colonial Manor in Baxter, died Sunday at the Marshalltown Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Laurel Zion United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Donald Cutler, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Richard Miller will conduct services. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery near Laurel.
Estel-Perrin Funeral Home in Marshalltown is handling arrangements.
A memorial in Mrs. Vieth’s name has been established. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are two step-daughters, Mrs. Frank (Leona) Coppock of Gilman and Mrs. Delbert (Vera) Dowden of Conrad; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a foster brother, Maurice Otten of California.
Mrs. Vieth was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1957; four brothers; and a step-daughter.
A former rural teacher in the Laurel community, Mrs. Vieth was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Laurel Garden Club and Senior Citizens.
The daughter of Henry and Catherine Jacobs Sietmann, she was born Sept. 13, 1891 in Laurel and was educated in Laurel and Marshalltown schools.
