Hattie Ver Woert Dies; Services Thursday in Pella
Mrs. Jacob (Hattie) Ver Woert, 79, of heritage Manor Nursing Home, died Monday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
The Rev. Kenneth Dykstra, pastor of the Third Reformed Church in Pella, will conduct services. Burial will be in Portergrove Cemetery near Pella.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are three sons, Henry of Monroe, Rox of Newton and Rex of Des Moines; a daughter, Nellie Ver Woert of Pella; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. William (Sarah) Willemsen, Mrs. Nick (Clara) Braafhart and Mrs. Ralph (Gertie) Van Brogen, all of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, six brothers, and two daughters, including Mrs. Art (Hattie) Slings of Newton.
Mrs. Ver Woert was a member of the Third Reformed Church of Pella.
The daughter of Andrew and Gertie Ruisch Miedema, she was born June 5, 1897 in The Netherlands and came to the United States at the age of five.
She was married Aug. 8, 1916 at Pella.
