Lester Ver Dught Dies Tuesday; Rites Thursday
Monroe – Lester Ver Dught, 69, of Monroe, a longtime Jasper County resident, died Tuesday at the Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
The Rev. Jerry Wolcott, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church will be accepted.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Pearl; two sons, Elvyn of Lexington, Mo., and Verl of Newton; two daughters, Twyla Graham of Des Moines and Dyann Ver Dught of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Ver Dught of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Lilly Rush of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Mr. Ver Dught was a member of the united Methodist Church.
He had been in the general trucking business in Monroe for 27 years.
The son of Peter and Maggie Van Hemert Ver Dught, he was born May 17, 1907 at Marion County.
He was married to Pearl Hawkins Dec. 4, 1928 in Polk County.
