Henrietta Vander Werff Dies Today; Services Friday
Mrs. Henry (Henrietta M.) Vander Werff, 90, of Midtown Apartments, a resident of Newton since 1926, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. William C. Hamilton, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Sarah) Simons and Mrs. Katherine Gustafson, both of Newton; a granddaughter, Mrs. Marion (Esther) De Hamer of Des Moines; and a grandson, Don Gustafson of Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1958, two brothers and a grandson, Paul Simons.
Mrs. Vander Werff was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
The daughter of Kryn and Sarah Schippers Ver Heul, she was born May 15, 1886 near Otley.
She was married Oct. 11, 1905 in Knoxville.
