Maxine Altemeier Dies; Services Conducted Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Everett (Maxine Gail) Altemeier, 61, of Rt. 1, Newton, a longtime resident of Jasper County, were held today at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Richard Welch, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, north of Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery
Memorial contributions to the Jasper County Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Everett; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Grambo of West Mount, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Tunis (Myrtle) Van Veld of Hebron, Ind., Mrs. Fred (Gladys) Meyer of Kellogg, Mrs. S. T. (Dorothy) Willits of Waterloo, Mrs. John (Mildred) Kelly of San Francisco, and Mrs. Dale (Winifred) Langmaid of Highland, Ind.; and a brother, William F. Horn of Chico, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Mrs. Altemeier was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Horn, she was born May 29, 1914 on a farm north of Kellogg, attended Jasper County schools and was a 1932 graduate of Newton Community High School.
She was married Feb. 24, 1937 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.
She died Friday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
