Velma Klopping Dies Wednesday; Services Sunday
Baxter – Mrs. Louis (Velma) Klopping, 69, of Lindstrom, Minn., a former resident of the Baxter, Laurel and Ira communities, died Wednesday at the North Memorial Hospital in Robinsdale, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.
The Rev. J. I. LaFaver and the Rev. Gary Hubley, pastor of the Baxter church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Penela West of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Barbara Kent of Lindstrom, Minn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Clifford Cross and Richard Cross, both of Baxter, and Denver Cross of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Mrs. Klopping, a former rural school teacher, was a member of the Women’s Club at Marshalltown and the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marshalltown.
The daughter of Denver D. and Glennavere Castor Cross, she was born Oct. 27, 1906 in Ira, attended Ira school and was a graduate of Baxter Community High School.
She was married May 27, 1927 in Jasper County.
