Lucy B. Yoakum Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday
Colfax – Mrs. Morris (Lucy B.) Yoakum, 90, a longtime resident of Colfax, died Thursday at the Colonial Manor at Baxter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Olive Marie) Chambers of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Dollie Mendenhall of Des Moines; and four stepchildren, Harold Yoakum of Newton and Marvin Yoakum, Max Yoakum and Mrs. Martha Coffin, all of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fredrick Butler Crook in September 1920, and her second husband, Morris Oakley Yoakum May 22, 1976.
The daughter of Barney and Jane Cooper McCarty, she was born Sept. 20, 1884 at Oswalt.
She was married to Fredrick Crook in October 1904 in Des Moines and to Morris Oakley Yoakum Aug. 18, 1948 in Missouri.
