William Wyss Former Newton Resident, Dies
Funeral services for William J. Wyss, 52, of 45 Four Seasons Condominiums, Weirs Beach, N.H., a former resident of Newton, were held recently at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia, N.H.
The Rev. John S. Allen, rector of the St. James Episcopal Church, officiated. Burial was in the Bayside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 22 Bridge St., Manchester, N.H. 03101, will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Maudie; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Cynthia) Palmer of Laconia, N.H., a granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Buchmeier of Grinnell.
Mr. Wyss, a career soldier until retiring in May, 1974, with the rank of chief master sergeant served in the Army and Air Force for 27 years, during which time he received two bronze stars, five Air Force commendation medals, a distinguished unit citation, presidential unit citation and combat infantry badge.
The son of John and Marie Schenk Wyss, he was born Jan. 8, 1924 in Newton.
He died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester, N.H.
