Lottie Wooddell Dies Monday; Rites Thursday
Prairie City – Mrs. Francis Vernon (Lottie Florence) Wooddell, 79, a lifelong resident of Prairie City and longtime Newton Daily News correspondent at Prairie City, died Monday at the Americana Health Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City.
The Rev. Oren Reger, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.
Survivors are a son, Howard Wayne of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Andrey Jean) Vande Lune of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard D. Zaayer; and a sister, Johanna Van Haaften of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her husband April 24, 1940.
Mrs. Wooddell, a member of the United Methodist church in Prairie City, the Fairview Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Monroe, had been employed by the late Dr. Ella Johnson of Prairie City for many years.
The daughter of Richard and Baradena Jansen Zaayer, she was born Dec. 9, 1896 in Prairie City and was graduated from Prairie City Community High School in 1914.
She was married Jan. 12, 1921 in Prairie City.
