Thelma Wilson Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday
Mrs. Lyman (Thelma Faye) Wilson, 72, of 319 E. 4th St. N., a resident of Newton for 53 years, died Thursday morning at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church.
The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel until 11 a.m. Saturday.
Survivors are a son, Rolland Wilson of Germantown, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary McIlrath of DeKalb, Ill.; three granddaughters; and a great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1964.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a number of church women’s organizations, the RSVP, Newton woman’s Cub and Jasper County Senior Citizens and had been a Red Cross volunteer.
She was an inspector at the Maytag Co. for more than 20 years, retiring 10 years ago.
She was born Sept. 11, 1903 in Creston and attended Creston and Red Oak schools.
She was married June 30, 1921 at Red Oak.
