Margaret Hevlin, Former Newton Resident, Dies
Mrs. Raymond C. (Margaret A.) Hevlin, 46, of 4137 Sixth Ave., Des Moines, a resident of Newton until 1950, died Thursday afternoon at the Northwest Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Dwight Hunnell of Des Moines will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Darnell of Norwalk and Mrs. John (Linda) Franklin of Oskaloosa; three grandsons; her mother, Mrs. Christian Vander Ecken of Newton; a brother, Tommy Smith of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; and three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Doris) Versteegh of Newton, Mrs. Wayne (Catherine) Tinnermeier of Newton and Mrs. Larry (Sally) Ross of Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Edward; and a sister, Janet Sue.
Mrs. Hevlin was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She had been an employe of the Newton Manufacturing Co., prior to her marriage.
The daughter of William E. and Christina Gibson Smith, she was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Newton and attended Newton schools.
She was married Feb. 18, 1950 in Newton.
