Ruth Zylstra Dies; Rites On Saturday
Sully – Ruth Lynn Zylstra, 24, of Iowa City, a former resident of rural Sully, died Tuesday at her home in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o’clock Saturday morning at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.
The Rev. L. Helder, pastor of the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Iowa City, the Rev. Fred Van Houten, pastor of the Sully church, and Duane Kelderman will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella will be accepted.
Survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Zylstra of rural Sully; four sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Sharla Joyce) Voss of Worth, Ill., Judith Carol, a student at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Donetta Jean and Sharon Rene, both of rural Sully; a brother, John Ruge, of rural Sully; and her grandfathers, G. B. Van Der Pol of Sully and Paul Zylstra of Embassy Manor in Newton.
Miss Zylstra was a member of the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Iowa City.
The daughter of Orville D. and Nellie M. Van Der Pol Zylstra, she was born Aug. 31, 1952 in Oskaloosa, attended Sully Christian School, was a 1970 graduate of Pella Christian High School and a graduate of Blogett School of Nursing at Grand Rapids, Mich.
Miss Zylstra, who became a registered nurse in 1973, worked as a nurse in Evanston, Ill., and Brooklyn, N.Y., before coming to the University Hospitals in Iowa City last year.
