Corvallis – Spencer Eugene Peters, 82, died Wednesday in Corvallis.
He was born in Prescott, Iowa, and raised and educated in Colfax, Iowa. He served in the Army from 1926 to 1929 and returned to Iowa. He married Edith Annis Nov. 29, 1933, in Carlisle, Iowa. He lived in Mingo, Iowa, and operated a hardware store there. He came here in 1939 and operated the Waucomah Dairy Farm, south of Corvallis, until 1955. He then worked for Lowther and Nordyke Sawmill until retiring. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; son, Robert of Salem; daughters, Marilyn Speers of Brownsville, Betty Savell of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Barbara Gant of Salem; and sister Daisy May Logston of Des Moines, Iowa
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday in McHenry mortuary. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Oregon Heart Association in care of the mortuary.
