Ronald Wilburn Brown, 72, of Newton died on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at his daughter’s home. A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Moose Lodge. Memorials to Outdoors Without Boundaries may be left at the celebration or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ron, the son of Wilburn and Marie (Keeler) Brown, was born on July 9, 1949, in Marshalltown. He graduated from Newton High School in 1967. Ron lived most of his adult life in Newton and worked for over 30 years at the Maytag Company as a welder. He was united in marriage with Julie Birkenholtz on November 27, 1985 in Baxter. Ron was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Masonic Temple, Outdoors Without Boundaries, and the Moose Lodge. He was well known for hosting his fish fries and had a passion for hunting and fishing.

Ron is survived by his wife, Julie Brown of Newton; children, Dwane (Nancy) Brown of New Sharon and Lori (Willie) Taylor of Collins; his step-children, Rachel (David) Lester of Newton and Ed Guthrie (Gilbert Robledo) of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Brandon, Destiny, Cortney, Kessiah, Brittany, Derek, Harlee, and Devin; nine great-grandchildren and one more on the way; his sisters, Marge Horstman and Shirley (Jerry) Crady; his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his friends and “blue milk” buddies, Jimmy, Jim, Richard, Keith, Bob, Paul, and Brandon. He was preceded in death by his parents and life-long friend, Kevin Tish.
