D. Schaumburg, Former Newton Resident, Dies
Leslie “Dutch” Schaumburg, 64, of Orchards, Wash., a former resident of Newton, died Sunday.
Funeral services are pending.
Survivors are his wife, Catherine; four brothers, Verne of Fairview, Ore., Irving of Portland, Ore., Francis of Newton and Durland of Rock Island, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. P. F. (Malinda) Hufendick of Des Moines.
Mr. Schaumburg was a former employe of the Maytag Co. foundry.
The son of William and Margaret Shields Schaumburg, he was born Oct. 31, 1908 in Newton and attended Newton schools.
He was married to Catherine Hoag in 1932 in Newton.
Mr. Schaumburg served in the Army in the European theatre during World War II.
Mr. Schaumburg moved from Newton in 1937.
