Mrs. John O’Roake Dies Early Today
Mrs. John O’Roake died at her home near Valeria early this morning after an illness of seven months during which time he has been suffering from a tumor.
Mrs. O’Roake was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1856, and was married in 1880 to John O’Roake. She came to Jasper county forty-four years ago, in which place she has remained ever since. She is the mother of eight children all of whom were home at the time of her death except James who lives on the O’Roake home place south of Newton.
Mrs. O’Roake is survived by her eight children, John, James, Mike, Dan, Charles, Carl and Misses Mary and Catherine O’Roake; her mother; Mrs. Catherine Macelhon; and two brothers, Daniel Macelhon of Des Moines, and Pat Macelhon of Valeria and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Connelly and Mrs. Rose MacDermott of Valeria. The funeral services will be held in the Valeria Catholic church Thursday morning and the burial will be made in the Newton Catholic cemetery.
