Maxine "Clancy" Phipps, 97, died Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Prairie Vista Village. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017, at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow services at Vandalia Cemetery.
Mrs. Phipps was born August 18, 1920, in Dean, Iowa. On June 26, 1937 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Leroy Phipps and to this union was born 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Maxine is survived by her children, Wayne L. Phipps (Diane) and Janice E. Schall (Dan); 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jimolene Walston; as well as her daughters-in-law, Vera Phipps and Clare Phipps.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; sons, Alan and Kenneth Phipps; parents, Wesley Clancy and Ethel Woods; brother, Wesley Clancy; sister, Nadine Stanford; granddaughter, Joanne Phipps; and great-granddaughter, Amanda Showen.
