Gilbert L. Phipps, 79, of Runnells died of lymphoma Sunday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle, with burial at Vandalia Cemetery.
Mr. Phipps was born in Iowa City and lived in Runnells 38 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Janice Schall of Pleasant Hill; a son, Wayne of Keosauqua; four brothers, Carroll of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Less of San Diego, Carlyle of Grinnell and Keith of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mildred of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Camp Township Fire Department.
