Services were held Thursday, March 10, at Richardson’s Funeral Home in Carlisle for Lester Irons, 78, of Route 2, Runnells, who died of a kidney ailment Monday, March 7, at home. Burial was in Vandalia Cemetery east of Runnells.
Born in Minnesota, Mr. Irons lived in the Runnells area since 1928. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two sons, Herman and Charlie, both of Runnells; four sisters, Violet Dodson of Des Moines, Mabel Eckman of Deer Creek, Minn., Nora Burnett of Swea City, and Alta McFarland of Williams; five brothers, Erwin of Longview, Wash., Kenneth of Phoenix, Ariz., Hjalmer of Buffalo Center, Harold of Altoona, and Floyd of Mitchellville, and four grandchildren.
