Mrs. J. B. Hawkins Buried at Vandalia
Funeral services were held for Mrs. J. B. Hawkins at the Four Square church Sept. 28, 2 p.m. with Earl Warren conducting the services. Burial was in the Vandalia cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins died Sept. 25 at her home in Monroe at the age of sixty-six years.
Singing by Hazel McKinney and Mrs. W. Skinner. Music by Iola Weaver, all of Runnells.
Pallbearers were Harold Morris, Alva Busby, Melvin Blood, Elmer Blood, Harry Bullington and Charlie Bullington.
Obituary
Cora Day Garrison, the daughter of Benjamin and Martha Garrison was born in Christian county, Greenwood township, Ill., Feb. 17, 1878, and died at the age of sixty-four years, seven months and eight days at her home.
She was married to John Burton Hawkins in Des Moines, Iowa on April 19, 1902. To this union seven children were born, four boys and three girls, Earl V., Burl E., Jason B. and Glen of Monroe, Iowa; Mae Miller of Runnells, Pearl Ver Duft and Ruby Ver Heul of Monroe, Iowa. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren, and one grandchild, Dale Hawkins, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Hawkins, preceded in death just one year to the day of her death.
She also leaves two sisters, Hammie Garrison, who has made her home with her some thirty-seven years, and Mrs. Lura Busby of Runnells; two half sisters, Mrs. Ada Blood of near Vandalia and Ina Bullington of Des Moines; two step-sisters, Mrs. Annie Kline of Illinois, and Mrs. Bertha Hartwick of Minnesota; two step-brothers, Bert Martin of Runnells and Carlie Martin of Taylorville, Ill.; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
