Colfax – Laverne E. “Vern” Harmison, 67, of Colfax died Friday, June 21, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial was at Vandalia Cemetery near Prairie City.
Memorials will be accepted to the Laverne E. Harmison Memorial Fund.
The son of Albert and Harriet (Cooper) Harmison, he was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Vandalia. On July 19, 1963, he married Darlene Sneller in Vandalia. He was owner/operator of Colfax APCO and retired in 1992. He was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Harmison lived in Prairie City and, for the past 30 years, in Colfax.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lisa Harmison of Iowa City; and two brothers, Clarence Harmison of Denver, Colo., and Bill Harmison of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
