Prairie City – Harriet M. Harmison, 89, of Prairie City, died Friday, July 17, at the Hospice Kavanagh Housse in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Fred Redhead presiding. Burial will be at Vandalia Cemetery in Prairie City.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
Memorials for the Hospice Kavanagh House will be accepted.
The daughter of Harry and Maude Williams Cooper, she was born June 11, 1909 in Vandalia. She married Albert William Harmison May 20, 1927 in Des Moines.
She was a lifelong resident of this area. She worked as the ownder of a restaurant in Prairie City for several years and was a member of community groups including Word of life Assembly of God in Mitchellville and the Excelsior Rebekah Lodge in Prairie City.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence of Denver, Colo., Bill of Indianola and Laverne of Colfax; two daughters, Margaret Gulling of Seattle, Wash., and Janice Brouwer of Des Moines; one sisters Alberta Birkenholtz of Prairie City; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
